Why it happens and how to control it
neurological disease decoded from bench and bedside
To truly control neurological diseases, we must solve both why they begin and why they progress.
While I pursue the molecular mechanisms of onset in patient-derived cells, I believe that clues to progression and deterioration lie hidden in patients’ clinical course seen in everyday practice.
Cells are where mechanisms are decoded; the clinic is a treasury of hints about progression—yet research that cleanly connects the two does not yet exist.
As one of the few researchers holding both a basic and a clinical perspective, I want to bridge this gap.
Carrying causes decoded in cells toward the prevention of clinical progression, and returning clinical insights to the cell, I aim to achieve cause-based prevention of onset and progression in neurological diseases—both pursued in equal measure.
