Unlocking the Regenerative Potential of Blood Vessels
My research focuses on vascular diseases, including aortic aneurysms and aortic dissections.
It has long been believed that elastic fibers in the vascular wall cannot regenerate once damaged.
However, we have discovered that a specific population of vascular cells has the ability to regenerate elastic fibers.
We are now investigating the mechanisms underlying this regenerative process to develop therapies that enhance the intrinsic capacity of blood vessels.
The ultimate goal of my research is to transform the treatment of vascular diseases from replacing damaged vessels to regenerating and healing them.
